Weekly Newsletter - Mar. 19, 2008

Rain, rain go away.

Here in Kentucky we are super soggy. I hope all of you in the

Midwest are fine.

It is just about one week till I leave for Egypt and Israel. I am

really excited about the trip as it is not only a first for me, but

also to see a place I have always wanted to see. To think, Lord

willing, that in about 10-12 days I will be looking at the Pyramids

then going to the area of Sinai and on to the land of Israel. Wow!

Have you ever been to these areas? If so, I would like to hear from

you. Give me the when, where, and how did you like it. I appreciate

it.

By the way, if you are so inclined, would you help me finance part

of my trip to the Mid-East? No, I am not asking for a donation, but

rather offer you something of value. See this week's specials below

for two great offers.

Interview Questions

I had a unique opportunity this past week. My wife's cousin is

taking an American History course in college. She has an assignment

to research religion in this nation, picking a specific church. Low

and behold, she contacted me. It was truly an exciting and

interesting experience that gave me an opportunity to teach family

(I am sure she will share it with her parents) and maybe even some

folks at her college. Anyway, here are the last two questions and

answers. The full email interview is available to members on the

web site.

How do you counter scientific beliefs of evolution?

The Bible says, "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God'"

(Psalms 14:1). And, "For every house is built by someone, but He

who built all things is God" (Hebrews 3:4).

No one believes a house evolved over eons of time. So, why is it

reasonable to believe that the universe, the earth, and mankind

evolved over billions or millions of years? Each of these is

infinitely more complex than a house. Each is living; a house is

"dead." Every house had a designer and maker, so it is with the

house in which mankind lives--the Earth.

I do not have the time or space to go into detailed scientific data

that rebuts the general theory of evolution, but suffice it to say

that it is not a settled scientific theory. Many brilliant, leading

scientists are now coming forward to say that creationism is an

equally valid theory that can be harmonized with settled science.

One more point on this. Science teaches that explosions produce

chaos, not order. Take an explosion at a print shop. If one of the

machines blew up, the result would not be a set of encyclopedias,

but a twisted heap of metal, charred wood, and fragments of paper

everywhere. The ultimate explosion of the evolutionist is the "Big

Bang." They want us to believe that from this explosion came an

orderly universe; a universe that we still use to accurately

measure time. I am not that gullible.

What do you believe regarding the highly debatable topic of

abortion?

In the Old Testament God made a law to protect pregnant women. He

said that if two men were fighting and a woman gave birth

prematurely, then the penalty was eye for eye, tooth for tooth,

life for life (Exodus 21:22-25). In other words, if they child

died, so did the one(s) who caused the death. The premature birth

could have been at 12 weeks, 30 weeks, or 40.

In the New Testament there is no distinction made between a baby in

the womb and one out of it. When referring to Jesus after His

birth, the Bible uses a specific Greek word translated "Babe" (Lk.

2:12). This exact same word is used of John when still in his

mother's womb (Lk. 1:44).

To kill a child in the womb or out of the womb is infanticide. It

is something that was practiced by the pagans of ancient idolatrous

religions. "And they built the high places of Baal which are in the

Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their

daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not

command them, nor did it come into My mind that they should do this

abomination, to cause Judah to sin" (Jeremiah 32:35). "Also he made

his son pass through the fire, practiced soothsaying, used

witchcraft, and consulted spiritists and mediums. He did much evil

in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger" (2 Kgs. 21:6).

Today men do not call it idolatry or paganism and they do not bow

down to a wooden statue. Rather, they call it "pro-choice" or

Planned Parenthood and go to NARAL rallies. The fact of the matter

is that children are being sacrificed--literally--for the convenience

of the parent(s). It is either economic reasons, social reasons,

life-style reasons, or some other reason based on the mother's

and/or father's selfishness.
