Completed reading through the end of ch. 11.

This reading is a great reminder for us under the New Covenant. How blessed we are to be under this better covenant. And how blessed we are to read about the examples of all the faithful men and women who lived before us.

Yes it is true that sexual immorality destroys the life and the soul. Baptism and repentance remits the sin of sexual immorality and the act needs to cease! The forgiveness of the sin is granted not permission to continue in the sin.

Completed 12-11-09. The blood is only applied to those who are in or were in the right relationship with God. Christ offered his blood once (for everyone of mankind).vs10 It is sad to have the blood applied then trample it under foot and turn away from the sacrifice. Worse for them and better that they didn't even know it.

I like these verse bc it it sheds light on the meaning of the practices of the Israelites in the Old Testmanet. Their God-approved practices are definitely not pagan rituald bc they are shadows of things to come.

Some people reason that baptism is not essential to salvation bc the man on the cross was promised the paradise without being baptized. A good answer for this is in v 17 "a will is in force only if somebody has died". THe new testament has been put into effect, therefore the pattern of salvation must be followed!

I specially like these two verses

v 27. "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgement,"

v 28 "so Christ was offered to tkae away the sins of the people; and he will appear a second time, to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him".

The new covenant is better by far than the old covenant! It is the permanent solution to man's weakness.
